Farmstand

We were driving through the Avenue of the Giants in northern California, (a scenic drive through the redwoods) when we came out into a sunny valley in the midst of the deep somber woods, and here was this stunning little farm with flowers edging the road. It just took my breath away!  I didn't have time to paint on location but I was able to grab a quick sketch which later was the seed for this joyous little painting. Sadly, the farmstand was closed that day...so I wasn't able to indulge in the American love affair of stopping at roadside farmstands to buy fresh produce... AND flowers!
